100 colors no.39 “sunshine” is a permanent installation located in the lobby lounge of the newly opened MetroHealth Glick Center, a medical facility in Cleveland, Ohio.
Alongside this work, more than 900 artworks are installed throughout the hospital, creating an environment where art and healthcare coexist. This installation marks the second permanent work in the “100 colors” series.
The artwork is an abstract representation of the sun floating within space.
Its overall form traces a large arc—approximately 25.4 meters in length—resembling the lower portion of a giant sun, as if visitors are standing beneath its radiant presence.
Approximately 1,700 circular modules, colored in 100 precisely arranged shades, are suspended from the ceiling in a three-dimensional grid.
Each circle represents a small fragment of sunlight. Individually colored, they gently rotate and reflect natural light as sunlight filters through the large windows, animating the space with subtle movement and shimmer.
This immersive installation fills the expansive lobby with warmth, color, and energy.
Through the interplay of light, motion, and color, sunshine offers moments of calm and vitality within everyday life.
As daylight shifts throughout the day, the 100 colors continue to transform, quietly evoking a range of emotions and creating a joyful, luminous atmosphere for all who pass beneath it.
