A spatial installation created for a special collaboration with Tomohisa Yamashita for the Japanese TV music program TOKYO MIDNIGHT MUSIC (NTV).
The installation was designed for the stage on which Tomohisa Yamashita performed the son "Face To Face", transforming the space into a colorful urban landscape inspired by the cityscape of Tokyo.
We live surrounded by countless colors every day, yet most of them pass by unnoticed.
In this work, 100 colors stand beside and face one another, generating vivid transitions and connections.
These relationships may reflect those between color and color, people and color, and people and people.
Echoing the spirit of "Face To Face", the installation expresses how distinct individuals and elements create new relationships simply by existing alongside one another.
The title "BESIDE" refers to being close to someone or something, and to coexisting together.
Through this work, I hope visitors will sense the beauty of the relationships that quietly exist around us in everyday life.
